ARSENAL have reportedly missed out on a deal for Spezia youngster Gabriele Corbo
Arsenal are in the midst of a summer of change which was kicked off by Unai Emery’s appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor.
That has beckoned the arrivals of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Matteo Guendouzi at the Emirates.
Arsenal are in no mood to slow down with just over a week to go until the transfer window slams shut until January.
And they’ve had their sights on Corbo, who’s emerged as one of Italy’s brightest defensive prospects in the past couple of years.
Italian newspaper La Repubblica indicate Arsenal’s interest in the Under-20 international has been mirrored by that of a clutch of clubs.
Serie A sides Fiorentina, Juventus and Sassuolo have all had their eye on Corbo during his rise.
While Bayern Munich took the 18-year-old on trial last season to have a closer look at how he’s developing.
However, they have all been beaten to the punch by Bologna, who are said to have struck a deal with Spezia.
La Repubblica claim Bologna are poised to hand over £2m (€2.2m) for Corbo, with £1.1m (€1.2m) to be paid immediately.
Corbo was apparently in Bologna yesterday to train with his prospective new team-mates.
